golf swing How to Have a Consistent Golf Swing article
Posted by Tony Gibson under Golf Swing
Nothing is worse than getting on that first tee, looking back at all your spectators, envisioning your perfect drive right up the middle, and then suddenly developing a case of the Shanks! You're completely ready to start your record breaking round of golf until your slice or hook comes crawling out of the bag to bite you. Maybe the duff or top that has been hiding in your tee bag has snuck out to grab a hold of your wedge. Or finally your putter has developed a disease called the Miss! All of these problems are easy to develop and can come on like a title wave to ruin your game. So what exactly is the recipe for a consistent golf swing?
According to dictionary.com the definition of consistency is the condition of cohering or holding together and retaining form. What does this mean for a golf swing you might ask. Well, it means that no matter the condition, no matter the weather, and no matter your fatigue you should be able to produce that same consistent swing. Now, to have this great ability you must work at it. This does not happen over night. Practice practice practice I am sure we have all heard this over and over again and have no idea what it really means. Do you believe it helps your golf game if you practice the wrong moves? The answer is simple, no.
Lets begin to develop some muscle memory. This way when you are tired and trying to make it on that last stretch, your body will know what to do. It is time to start practicing like you play. Most go to the range and pound away on the driver for 45 minutes and accomplish nothing. How many times a round do you really hit the driver? Maybe 12 or even as little as 9 times. So lets asses what we use the most. Mid-irons, wedges, and our putter are the most commonly used. Knowing this develop a plan for your practice time. Spend the same percentage of practice as you use that club on the course. Your last half of practice should be completely putting. Remember, you use your putter every single hole and it can be your deadliest weapon.
I do hope putting this practice to work will help you gain muscle memory in the future. It has truly helped me in lowering my handicap over time. Muscle memory can be the key to jumping that border and dropping your scores under 90, 80, or even under 70! Good Luck All and great golfing. http://scotty-everydayadventures.blogspot.com/
